Manager Mining & Mineral Resources,
Mesabi Metallics Co LLC
Bill Everett has extensive experience in mine management, mine engineering and geology in the iron ore industry, with emphasis on modern technologies and sustainable, safe mining practices. A member of the Society of Mining Engineers for over 50 years, he is a registered geologist with the American Institute of Professional Geologists.
Bill started his career as a land surveyor and exploration geologist in 1966, which took him to Montana, Maine and the Northwest Territories in Canada. Completing an MS in Mine Engineering at the University of Idaho in 1976, he was employed as a mining engineer at Hibbing Taconite Company in Minnesota. He held management and mine engineering positions at Cleveland Cliffs operations on the Mesabi Range for more than 31 years.
He was actively involved in computerising the Cliffs operations on the Mesabi Range, including computer-based truck dispatch and mine engineering, and modelling of ore deposits. Bill began using Vulcan in 1997 for mine planning at Hibbing Taconite. Several of the modelling procedures were incorporated into Vulcan.
Bill is currently Manager – Mine and Mineral Resources at Mesabi Metallics Company, a new taconite operation under development in Minnesota, and remains an active Vulcan user.
