Course Description

This course will cover the expectations and requirements of mine technical studies under the SEC’s Regulation S-K 1300. S-K 1300 specifies three studies: initial assessments, pre-feasibility and final feasibility studies that a qualified person must use to support public disclosure of mineral resources and mineral reserves. This course provides an overview of the technical studies, requirements of the technical report summaries, and hands-on tips for conducting key parts of the analysis using commercial mine planning software.

At the end of this course, participants should be able to: (i) explain to their peers S-K 1300’s requirement for technical studies; and (ii) act with the highest professional and ethical standards when conducting studies to support disclosure of mineral resources and reserves.

This course is designed to help geoscientists and mining, geological, metallurgical and other engineers, who are or may be involved in mineral exploration or technical studies, to comply with ethics and regulatory standards (particularly, US Securities and Exchange Commission’s Regulation S-K subpart 1300).

Prerequisites: Basic understanding of Vulcan and block modelling and mine design preferred.
