Maptek software furthers mining education

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2018

Steve Sullivan, Senior Technical Sales Specialist, represented Maptek at the annual Mining Education Australia (MEA) conference where the best and brightest final year mining engineering students presented a 15 minute talk on their honours projects.

The institutions that make up the MEA are the University of Adelaide, University of NSW, Western Australian School of Mines (WASM)/Curtin University and University of QLD. These universities offer a shared, common syllabus for mining engineering.

Representatives from the teaching staff from each MEA university attended the 2018 event held in Adelaide this week, and formed the judging panel.

Maptek was recognised for its involvement with the MEA courses, providing software and tuition in three of the four states. Maptek partnerships give students the opportunity to apply the latest technology to real-world data through classroom teaching, research and project work. We view our involvement as an important strategy in ensuring the future efficiency of the mining industry.

Congratulations to all who participated!
