General Description

This role is instrumental in providing effective technical design, analysis, implementation and deployment,
documentation, business flows, quality assurance, and support for MRT solutions. In addition, this role will
act as an intermediate between Southern Africa clients and Australian based MRT developers, ensuring
detailed requirements are developed and delivered to clients. This role will also provide subject matter
expertise to clients by identifying additional value that can be generated by using MRT solutions.

The Junior Product Application Consultant should have a solid understanding of MRT products and a high-
level understanding of wider Maptek products, to identify opportunities when interacting with clients.

This role should be able to provide proficient first – and second line support (remote or on-site) when
required and be able to direct unresolved support queries within Maptek group for efficient support
resolution.

Detailed Job Description

The jobholder will be expected to perform the following and meet specific criteria in each of these Key
Result Areas within the scope of their position:

Technical Expertise

Demonstrate product knowledge

Actively develop and maintain a working knowledge of Maptek’s range of products, their interactions, and
applications:

  • Translate business requirement specification to technical and functional information visualisation  requirement specifications.
  • Design, implement, maintain, and support standardised data cubes, data mart and information  visualisation.
  • Installation, repairs, maintenance, and final testing of MRT product hardware.
  • Perform client installations, configuration, upgrades, and training.
  • Provide 24/7 roster-based client support for MRT systems using Microsoft SQL, product configuration,  and setup utilities.
  • Responsible for delivering and conducting site sprints, as well as on-site support when required.
  • Ensure that current and future clients and IT architecture are aligned with project requirements.
  • Create and provide onsite training for current clients and demonstration for potential clients.
  • Ensure collaboration with clients and fellow employees regarding client requirements to recommend  optimal solutions.

Minimum Practical Requirement

  • Quick uptake of new technology.
  • Able to deliver within a team.
  • Proven experience in successful client management and client facing delivery of complex outputs.
  • Self-motivated, self-driven and capable of working independently.
  • Able to work on client sites anywhere within Southern Africa.
  • Telephonic and remote support skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Minimum Technical Requirements

  • Proven experience in the development and deployment of functional reports.
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Up to 3 years Microsoft SQL RDBMS, query writing, Integration and Analysis services, Microsoft  Reporting Services experience.

Minimum Educational Requirements

  • BSc IT, BCom Informatics Degree, and/or Electronic Engineering qualification (Degree or Diploma) or  equivalent experience.
