Synopsys  

The Intern, Mining Engineer is responsible for providing product and technical services and support  relating to all Maptek’s technical products, to both existing clients and end users. The Intern will provide  onsite support for extended periods of time which will allow for practical experience.  

Duties & Responsibilities  

  • Ensure the requirements of Maptek clients are being satisfied to a high standard. 
  • Be expertly familiar with Maptek’s Products and its beneficial application by working with clients  to innovate and develop solutions.  
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all Maptek products, understand their interaction and be able to  assist in the support of all products.  
  • Ensure that the Maptek’s systems are being used optimally by clients.  
  • Ensure that the Maptek’s systems are entrenched on sites after roll-out.  
  • Offer onsite Maptek Product and System support and consultation.  
  • Communicate with programmers regarding bugs and follows-up to ensure fixes are received and  tested.  
  • Advise management on product development issues arising from identified problems through  technical support calls with customers.  
  • Advise management on technical difficulties experienced at site.  
  • Assist in final testing of new products and draft user documentation.  
  • Promote open communication with clients, team members and Maptek staff. 
  • Complete, maintain and process pertinent paperwork and records within Maptek’s CRM system. 
  • Deliver training and technical support to end users.  
  • Travel up to 100% of work time within Africa and as required internationally.  
  • Other tasks as directed by the Line Manager from time to time. 

Minimum Job Requirements  

  • Completed University Qualification in Mining Engineering with some related experience. 
  • Self-starter who can demonstrate initiative and is results focused.  
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.  
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports,  and legal documents.  
  • Capable of responding to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or  members of the business community.  
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of  directors as well as entry level Blasting Assistants\crew.  
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  
  • Knowledge of Maptek’s products or other similar mining software products preferred, but not  essential.  
  • Valid South African driving license.  
  • Ability to travel up to 100% of work time within Africa and as required internationally.
