Overview  

Reporting to the Mine Measurement & Geo-Technical Line Manager, the Mine Survey Consultant will be  responsible for providing training, technical support and consulting services to clients and to promote  Maptek products to clients in Africa and internationally as required. This includes technical demonstrations  of scanning hardware and software, as well as the marketing of Mine Measurement products at trade  shows.  

Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Provide Technical Support to Maptek Survey, Geotechnical and Engineering clients on the use of the  products (hardware and software)  
  • Provide training and consulting services to Maptek Survey clients.  
  • Travel up to 50% of the year to sites to engage in Consulting projects, Client Training initiatives and to  provide technical Support to Clients.
    • Wherever possible recoup such site visits and travel expenses from the client at the current  renumeration fee.  
  • Promote the services and products of Maptek wherever possible.  
  • Be familiar and confident in demonstrating all aspects of Maptek scanning hardware and software.  
  • Undergo internal training to update and expand Maptek application skills in all disciplines.  
  • Provide Maptek development staff with customer requirements and development ideas.  
  • Take part in testing of Maptek products prior to release, as required by development staff.  
  • Contribute to collation of training/promotional literature as required.
  • Generate and maintain a personal set of Maptek demonstration datasets for showcasing to clients.  
  • Market Maptek products throughout the Maptek Africa region. 
  • Attend Trade shows and participate in  product demonstration road shows as needs be. 
  • Assist with the logistics in setting up a trade show  booth.  
  • Assist Business Development and Business Development departments with technical demonstrations  of scanners to achieve sales targets.  
  • Assist with the logistics involved with the servicing of company and client scanner hardware.  
  • Assist the line manager and team in performing demonstrations and training, when required.  
  • Generate training and consulting services opportunities from current clients.  
  • Maintain and Manages opportunities, leads, support cases and other business critical tasks within the  preferred CRM. 
  • Other duties as directed by your manager from time to time.  

Minimum Requirements  

  • Diploma in Mine Survey or Advanced Survey certificate.  
  • Underground survey experience essential.  
  • Background in the use of mining software will be highly advantageous.  
  • Willing and able to travel extensively in Africa.  
  • Valid passport.  
  • A current and valid Driver’s License.
