Job Summary

The accountant will assist the VP focusing on recurring responsibilities and other special assignments. The accountant is expected to develop his/her talents and abilities to an extent that all requested duties and tasks shall be performed with minimal supervision. The accountant is expected to have a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of accounting and accounting software programs as they will act as the team’s technology expert. This position will work closely with Finance team members, service providers, and other Maptek personnel to efficiently integrate technology needs into day-to-day operations.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for accuracy and timeliness of transactions in the accounting system.
  • Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including reconciling items on a timely basis to determine root cause and provide corrective action.
  • Accounts receivable and payable activities as assigned.
  • Assist with timely filing/payment of recurring business licenses, registrations, and taxes.
  • Assist with fixed asset accounting including calculating/monitoring depreciation.
  • Provide expertise and be primary contact for integrating accounting system, Sage 100, with other software/3rd party systems – Banking, Payroll, Expense Report, Corporate Credit Card, eCommerce.
  • Drive technology process improvements by making necessary changes in processes and procedures that result in more efficient and effective team results.
  • Assist the VP in all accounting projects as requested.
  • Actively seek assistance from the VP in unusual or ambiguous accounting situations.
  • Other ad hoc tasks as assigned.
  • Approach tasks, customers, and employees with a positive attitude and complete accurately and efficiently.
  • Foster an environment of collaboration by engaging in teamwork and building relationships across departments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge and aptitude in fundamental accounting principles.
  • Requires prior accounting experience, prefer two or more years of direct accounting experience.
  • Demonstrates intermediate competence in accounting software packages.
  • Sage 100 experience highly desired.
  • Prefer bachelor’s level degree in accounting.
  • Ability to type and 10-Key efficiently.
  • Demonstrates aptitude with numbers and calculations.
  • Ability to deal with multiple, competing demands, and prioritize appropriately while meeting deadlines
  • Possess strong critical thinking skills, logic, reasoning, and the ability to solve problems effectively.
  • Courteous and positive customer and personal service.
  • Respond to and courteously accept unexpected requests on behalf of management and other staff members.
  • Excellent written, speaking, and reading comprehension skills in the English language.
  • Ability to get along well with a diverse group of people, attitudes, and expectations in Maptek offices.
  • Ability to use MS Office and Google Suites and general office equipment.
  • Excellent active listening skills.
  • Demonstrate social perceptiveness – understanding other’s reactions and how to deal with them.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other departments/Maptek offices, clients, suppliers, and 3rd party.

Summary of compensation and benefits

  • Salary range: $75,000 – $85,000 commensurate with experience and skills
  • Profit sharing bonus, depending on business performance
